العولمة في اللغة مأخوذة من التعولُم ، والعالمية ، والعالم .وفي الاصطلاح تعني اصطباغ عالم الأرض بصبغة واحدة شاملة لجميع أقوامها وكل من يعيش فيها وتوحيد أنشطتها الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والفكرية من غير اعتبار لاختلاف الأديان والثقافات والجنسيات والأعراق . ليس هناك تعريف جامع مانع لها ، فهو مصطلح غامض في أذهان كثير من الناس ،ويرجع سبب ذلك إلى أن العولمة ليست مصطلحاً لغوياً قاموسياً جامداً يسهل تفسيرها بشرح المدلولات اللغوية المتصلة بها ، بل هي مفهوم شمولي يذهب عميقاً في جميع الاتجاهات لتوصيف حركة التغيير المتواصلة . ولكن مما يلاحظ من التعريفات التي أوردها الباحثون والمفكرون التركيز الواضح على البعد الاقتصادي لها ، لأن مفهوم العولمة بداية له علاقة وطيدة بالاقتصاد والرأسمالية وهذا ما جعل عدداً من الكتاب يذهبون إلى أن العولمة تعني : تعميم نموذج الحضارة الغربية – خاصة الأمريكية – وأنماطها الفكرية و السياسية والاقتصادية والثقافية على العالم كله .
نشأة العولمة :
شاع هذا المصطلح في التسعينات بعد إنهيار المعسكر الشيوعي ، واستفراد أمريكا بالعالم ، ولا سيما عندما طالبت أمريكا دول العالم بتوقيع اتفاقية التجارة العالمية بقصد سيطرة الشركات العابرة للقارات على الأسواق العالمية . مما يؤكد أن العولمة بثوبها الجديد أمريكية المولد والنشأة .
ويرى الباحثون الذين تحدثوا عن نشأة العولمة أن العولمة عملية تراكمية ، أي أن هناك عولمات صغيره سبقت ومهدت للعولمة التي نشهدها اليوم ، والجديد فيها هو تزايد وتيرة تسارعها في الفترة الأخيرة بفضل تقدم وسائل الإعلام والاتصال ، ووسائل النقل والمواصلات والتقدم العلمي بشكل عام ، ومع ذلك فهي لم تكتمل بعد .
الإسلام والعولمة :
